Prospects for Libraries in New Education Policy of India 2020

Library and information profession is one ofthe services that assists and supports all educational institutions of all nations, consequently both the academic institutions and library information systems essentially be the connection link if operative and effectual competent design and implementation of policies that has to be implemented. The influence of the libraries can be sensed at all phases in the educational segments, right firom the grass root level, i.e., from primary and secondary school libraries in to the academic libraries of the tertiary educational institutions. Henceforth the significance of the libraries in the instructive progress of a nation cannot be over-estimated. The national education policy purposes have not been that much tough to recognize yet fundamentals of the most convincing of all, that is. National Educational Policy (NEP). This paper is a theoretical paper which reviews the aims and objectives o f the NEP and the significant roles librarians to be played in its effective execution across the nation. The subjects to be critically examined are the national educational policy, the responsibilities o f library professionals in its implementation.
